MINI MAGIC

Can you imagine holding a 40 year-old tree in the palm of your hand? Intriguing, isn’t it? Though most of us believe that the art of miniaturizing trees of Japanese origin, it actually traces its roots to the Qin Dynasty that ruled China several centuries ago. It traveled to Japan from China and given the Japanese appreciation and sensitivity towards nature, this art was greatly refined there and came to be known as bonsai. In Japanese, bonsai means, a plant grown in a shallow container, trained to look like a miniature tree. The Japanese taught this art to the rest of the world and over time, it has become one of the most popular hobbies of gardening enthusiasts across the world. Though one can learn this art from books, the hobbyist must know some basic horticultural techniques. The artistic elements of line, form and different styles can be developed gradually.
